Are you descended from a Civil War veteran named George Gross who died in the Ladysmith area in 1904? George’s wife was Mary (nee Wesolowski). She and son Stephen Gross lived in Ladysmith until around the 1920′s – then I lose track of them. Mary probably died in Ladysmith in the 1920′s when she was around 75-80 years old. Let me know if there is a connection.
John – none of those names ring a bell, but I will investigate. The Grosses I’m descended from end up in Turtle Lake; my relatives (my mother’s side) in Ladysmith are the Woods.
